Visiting Rules

Admissions

1.1 The GuWei Museum (hereafter referred to as “the Museum”) may adjust its opening hours or temporarily close specific areas without prior notice due to special events.

1.2 In the event of a full or partial closure of the Museum, visitors will be guided to the exit via designated routes.

1.3 Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult to enter the Museum, and the adult must stay with them at all times.

1.4 Group visits of 10 or more participants require a reservation.

1.5 Crowd control measures will be in place; the Museum reserves the right to limit the number of visitors.

Cloakrooms, Luggage, and Prohibited Items

2.1 To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, items larger than 55cm x 35cm x 20cm or heavier than 10kg (excluding folded strollers and mobility aids) are not permitted in the Museum. These items could be stored in the locker areas, and jackets can be hang on the coat rack. Wheeled cases, carriers, and recreational devices (e.g., skateboards, scooters, inline skates, or shoes with built-in wheels) are strictly prohibited.

2.2 The Museum reserves the right to prohibit items deemed inappropriate to be brought into the premises.

2.3 On rainy days, umbrellas must be placed in the umbrella stands or umbrella bag.

2.4 All stored items must be retrieved from the lockers by 18:00. Unclaimed items will be treated as unattended property (see Section 3.1 for details).

Unattended and Lost Property

3.1 Visitors are responsible for their personal belongings. The Museum is not liable for any damage or loss of unattended items. Unattended property may be removed or destroyed without prior notice, and the Museum assumes no responsibility for such actions.

Food, Drink and Smoking

4.1 Food, beverages, and chewing gum are not permitted in the Museum galleries.

4.2 Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes or vaping devices, is strictly prohibited in the Museum and the Coffee Shop.

Animals

5.1 Animals are not allowed inside the Museum, except for guide dogs. Guide dogs must wear identifying vests or tags, remain on a leash or harness, and under the control of the owner at all times.

Photography and Video Recording

6.1 Photography and video recording are permitted only for non-commercial use.

6.2 To protect exhibits and respect other visitors, flash photography, selfie sticks, tripods, and lighting equipment are not allowed. Visitors must comply with the Museum’s specific photography and filming guidelines.

6.3 The Museum may photograph, film, or record visitors for educational, media, or promotional purposes. These materials may be used on the Museum’s website, social media platforms, publications, or other promotional materials. Additionally, the Museum reserves the right to temporarily close areas for photography or video recording.

Public Order

7.1 Visitors are expected to keep the Museum clean and refrain from writing on, marking, or damaging any exhibits or Museum property. Visitors may be held responsible for any damage.

7.2 Please do not touch, move, or lean against exhibits unless explicitly permitted. Maintain a safe distance from all displays, cases, platforms, and pedestals.

7.3 For the protection of the exhibits, visitors are advised to wear their backpacks on the front or stored them in the locker. Visitors are responsible for maintaining a safe distance from showcases and exhibits. In the event of any damage to Museum property, visitors may be held liable and required to provide compensation.

7.4 Maintain a quiet and pleasant environment. Avoid excessive noise or disturbances. If making phone calls, please keep the volume low to avoid disrupting others.

7.5 Megaphones, microphones, and simultaneous interpretation equipment are not permitted without prior approval from the Museum.

7.6 Running or playing inside the Museum is prohibited, except in designated areas where such activities are allowed.

7.7 The distribution of unauthorised printed or recorded materials is strictly prohibited.

7.8 Conducting guided tours without prior approval from the Museum is not permitted.

7.9 The Museum reserves the right to restrict any inappropriate behaviour on its premises. Visitors who fail to comply with instructions or engage in unsafe, unruly, or illegal activities may be denied admission or asked to leave without compensation or liability.

Amendment

8.1 The Museum reserves the right to change, alter, add, delete, suspend, revise and update all information in this document at any time without giving prior notice. Please check prior to your visit to ensure that you are aware of the latest guidelines.

8.2 In case of dispute in relation to any of the above, the Museum’s decision will be final. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between the two versions, the English version shall prevail.

Public Holidays:10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Last admission is 1 hour before the closing time

Close on Mondays (Except Public Holidays) and first to third day of Lunar New Year
